Even after debris is gone, moisture can still sit inside the crack and cause problems during filling. Water blocks proper contact with the crack walls and can keep filler from settling the way it should. Check the inside of the crack before moving on, especially after rain or early morning dew. If the surface still feels damp, give it more time or use compressed air again to help dry it out so the repair has a clean, solid base.
